A disc of burnt orange with a white core, burning on a ground of cream and yellow, over a band of blue water laid in repeating wave-strokes. Two and a half metres tall and a metre and a half wide: the disc alone is wider than your outstretched arms.

Nothing here is dark. That is the point the title makes — blindness here is not the absence of light but too much of it, the sun at the moment it stops being survivable to look at.

The dedication is to Léopold Sédar Senghor, the Senegalese poet who became his country's first president. Kasimir de Dalmau Oriol painted two canvases of this size in 2024, each dedicated to a poet; this is the one for Senghor, and Eclipse: The Mourning Sun is the one for Fernando Pessoa.

Kasimir was born in Barcelona in 1960 and, by his own account, painted for more than thirty years before showing the work outside his own circle.

Acrylic on canvas, 2024. 250 × 150 cm. One of a kind, ships unframed.

Shipping is included worldwide and insured to the full purchase value. A certificate of authenticity travels with the work, and you have fourteen days to return it.
